Privacy
This notice is required by Art. 13 GDPR even for a site like this one, because a web server records an IP address in order to answer a request at all. The principle it describes is simpler than the law that requires it: this site sets no cookies, runs no analytics and embeds nothing that phones home. The fonts are served from this domain. Links to X, Telegram and Substack are plain links — nothing is loaded from those services until you click.
Controller
The provider named in the Impressum. Contact: legal@ghostinthemarkets.com.
Hosting and server logs
The site is hosted on a server in Germany (Hetzner, Falkenstein/Nuremberg). The web server keeps access logs — IP address, timestamp, requested URL, user agent, referrer — for 14 days, for security and error analysis. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR, the legitimate interest in operating a service that is not being attacked. DNS is provided by Cloudflare as DNS only: queries are resolved there, and no traffic to this site passes through it. Mail on this domain is handled by iCloud Mail.
No cookies, no tracking, no banner
No cookies are set and no consent banner is shown, because there is nothing to consent to. A theme preference — light or dark — is kept in your browser's own localStorage. It never leaves your device, it is not personal data, and clearing your site data removes it.
Newsletter
If you subscribe to the letter, Substack processes your e-mail address on our behalf (a US provider, under standard contractual clauses). Subscription is double opt-in and every mail carries an unsubscribe link. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR, your consent.
Telegram and X
Following the channel or the account is governed by those services' own privacy policies, not this one. We see the public handles those services show us and nothing else.
Your rights
You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection, and the right to complain to a data protection supervisory authority.
Changes
This notice is dated. The current version is always the one at /legal/privacy; the date at the foot of the page is when it last changed.
